With the arrival of Allyse right before Christmas, it made this holiday extra special. I was released from the hospital Christmas eve and my family was there to celebrate with me! My parents came down from Oregon and my sister and her husband came over, plus all my other siblings. We had fun finger food and opened up gifts from one another. We did not have Jackilyn, but still it was fun. As we were opening gifts we started talking about memories past, which somehow lead to Keri and I remembering some of the fights we had. As we laughed about it our husbands, kept looking at us like... WHAT??????

Of course we then read the story of Christ's birth and were all moved as we remembered the true meaning of Christmas. I think for me I felt extra blessed as I held Allyse and realized she had just come from being with Christ and Heavenly Father. To think, that a long time ago in a far away land another mother gave birth about the same time I did, only she gave birth to the savior of the world. It made me realize and feel lucky to be a mom. Mary's role as Christ's mother was not a typical mom role, it was harder in so many ways, she was a chosen woman and I can't imagine what her life must have been like. I guess it made my own daughters birth just a little more special!
For the first time in a long time, we all went to bed fairly early on Christmas eve. The next morning we woke up around eight and opened gifts from santa and a few others we had saved from one another. This year we went with practical gifts that we needed. Jason thought it was funny I gave him a pedicure set, but I am tired of him scratching me with his toe nails! I in turn got a set of metal bowls!
At noon, we picked up Jackilyn and went to my in-laws for a Christmas dinner. Jackilyn proudly showed off her new baby sister. I have to be honest, at the time, all I could think about was going home and resting, but it was important for us to go and be there for Jackilyn to see all her cousins.
When we got home we opened presents with Jackilyn. It was funny to watch her as she got excited over each of her gifts. I have to say of her 5 gifts her favorite must have been the Cinderella barbie she got. She screamed and flashed it for everyone to see and it was the one gift that she did not want anyone to touch! We decided that it would also be a good time to take the girls's picture, so they both got all dressed up! Over all it was not a huge Christmas for us but it was in an odd way!
