Triaminic for Jackilyn and Nystatin for Allyse
Ok I have to say one sick kid is a lot easier to handle than TWO sick kids! I do not know how other parent do it. I have to say I am running VERY low on energy. Before Allyse when I took care of Jackilyn when she was sick, I thought, this is not that big of a deal, I can do this. (Then again she never threw up on me!) Now with her sick and Allyse sick, it is harder to stay on top of dosing and taking care of them!

Jackilyn with her Immuno Booster!
The after Allyse was born Jackilyn came down with a fever and the flu. My mother in law came to take her because of how out of it I was and because we didn't want Jackilyn to get Allyse sick. I am happy to say that the fever and nasty flu are gone but in its place is a nasty hacking cough and runny nose. Every time she starts to feel better, she goes to her moms house and then comes back just as sick if not worse! my mom sent her some immuno boosters that she likes to take. At least she likes the taste of some medicine!
Then to top it off this past week I was checking Allyse's mouth and noticed she had developed thrush. A visit to her pediatrician confirmed it. She has these white sores in her mouth and it bothers her to feed. She screams when they hurt and she hates taking the medicine. I have to lay her down and have some one hold her head in place while I swab the medicine on her sores then give her more through a dropper.

Allyse screaming before I give her the medicine
Between Jackilyn getting up because her throat hurts and coughing and Allyse's crying from her sores, I am worn out! I just want my kids to get better! ( I know that technically I am not Jackilyn's mom, I am her step mom and I do love her and take care of her.) Plus I want to get some rest! I found that when one was down the other was up. I know my mom would say, well Sarah, welcome to being a full time parent. I know, I know, still it doesn't make it any easier. My hats off to the moms that have been doing this for much longer than I have, and to my own mom who raised FIVE kids.
My mom really has been a help while I have been taking care of these little sickies! Thanks for all you do mom!

Being a mom is definitely hard work. I've only ever had to take care of one sick kid up to this point (unless a sick husband counts, too), so I can only imagine how two must feel. I hope they get better soon! Winters really are rough. I feel like Grace has a constant runny nose and cough from September-April.
ReplyDeleteSick husbands count! When Jason gets sick he is the biggest baby! I think the kids are easier to take care of then him!
